| RECENT PROJECTS Delta Plant Natural Gas Engine Retrofit |
| The Delta Plant Natural Gas Engine Retrofit - Sempra Energy Solutions/City of Monterey Park: Caterpillar's Power Systems & Associates, PRP Engineering and Western Power Industrial Electrical, Inc. contracted with Sempra Energy Solutions as the design/build team in order to equip the City of Monterey Park's Delta Pumping Plant with dual energy sources. Three of the existing 250 hp motor driven pumps were modified with right angled gear drives, which allowed units to operate with a 230 Hp natural gas engine or with an existing 250 Hp electric motor. The City will ultimately reduce its total energy costs by operating the gas engines during peak electrical demand periods. PRP provided the engineering/design plans, including the cooling water supply and return piping system to the heat exchangers, the natural gas fuel supply lines, the engine gravity support block, and modifications to the existing weather cover to enable installation of the RAGD and to reduce surrounding noise levels. Construction costs were over $800,000, with no out of pocket expense to the City of Monterey Park. The construction costs will be reimbursed to Sempra Energy Solutions from the city's projected monthly energy cost savings over a 2.5 year period. |

|
Talega Zone II Water Booster Pump Station (Talega Valley, Santa Margarita Water District): PRP Engineering prepared the preliminary and final design plans for the 1.8 million dollar facility, which was completed in Sept., 2002. The booster pump station is equipped with four 125 hp vertical turbine pumps and housed in an above-ground building with a Pratt pump control check valve, separate control room for VFD/MCC Control System and PLC Controller. The station is capable of operating in a closed system without a reservoir, or with a reservoir during off-peak power periods, which allows for major savings on utility bills. The facility also has an oversized surge tank for hydropneumatic operation during closed system operation, two flow meters, a pressure relief bypass system and a flow control system to provide domestic water supply at a pre-set rate to supplement the reclaimed reservoir storage. |
