Interim Phase 1, 2, 3 & 4 Lift Stations (Ladera Ranch, Santa Margarita Water District): PRP Engineering prepared preliminary and final design plans as well as construction engineering services to Ladera Ranch, DMB for Phases 1, 2, 3 & 4 Temporary Sewage Lift Stations. The Ladera Ranch had mass grading operations that exceeded 140 million cubic yards, providing a special challenge for sewering the development. PRP Engineering selected sewer pumps that were originally used in a temporary manhole lift station, which operated until the completion of the permanent Ladera Lift Station. The pumps were selected based on their ability to be used in Phase I and then re-used at Phases 2 & 4. The pumps that were modified w/ new impellers and used for Phase 2 and are now operating in Phase 4 with new impellers. The 40 hp motors were able to meet all three different flow rates, which were 240 gpm (Phase I), 360 gpm (Phase 2), and 625 gpm (Phase 4). Phases 2 & 4 also had wet well structures w/ submersible pumps, control rooms, and a 225 kw emergency generator, and valve vault. The Phase 3 Interim Lift Station had three 125 hp submersible pumps installed w/ a dry well vault and included a dry well vault w/ wet well, trash rack, and one hour onsite average flow storage wells, a 400 kw generator, control room, emergency valve intertie vaults and miscellaneous site improvements for chemical truck access. The Interim Phase 3 Lift Station was constructed and operating as of December, 2001 for a total cost of 1.6 million. The Interim Phases 1,2 & 4 Lift Stations were constructed for a total of 1 million, which has enabled the Ladera Ranch to have temporary sewer services phased with grading operation. |
